ERVA Power League

Purpose

The mission of the Evergreen Region Power League is to create more opportunities for players, coaches, and officials to experience the game at a higher level. The Power League provides a highly competitive format that allows participants to foster the skills and understanding necessary to succeed.

Online Results

ERVA will be utilizing Advanced Event Systems (AES)  to update tournament results throughout the event. This means that you can access the most up-to-date information on your laptop, tablet, or phone!

These results will be used to seed the February play date and will determine the beginning divisions for teams. 
 

CHANGES TO POWER LEAGUE FOR 2024 Season

The ERVA Junior Committee has decided on the following changes for Power League.

  • Final Date in April will NOT be combined with INK. The final Power League date will be on the SAME DATE but remain a separate event.
     
  • Expansion of the field. ALL TEAMS currently registered will be in the Power League field. 
     
  • National Qualifier Exemption  Policy
    • Teams who wish to participate in a USAV National Qualifier Tournament on the same scheduled date as an ERVA Power League Event will be allowed to miss without penalty. Teams may only use this exemption ONCE per season. 

      The ERVA office MUST be notified of participation in the National Qualifier Tournament no later than 30 days prior to the start date of the National Qualifier Event. 
       
    • These teams finish at the lowest position in their division and are moved down in the following Power League date, if applicable. 
       
    • National Qualifier Exemption Refund Policy:
      • If ERVA Office is notified no later than 30 days prior to the National Qualifier start date AND team fulfills National Qualifier participation, the ERVA office will refund the single day Power League entry fee upon completion of National Qualifier participation.

2024 POWER LEAGUE DATES

 

Entry Fee: $1100 for all 4 events.

Teams who register for the Power League Qualifier are signing up for all 4 event dates. 

Teams who do not qualify will be entered into the alternate events. Spots will be held for your team and you do not have to sign up for them on tournament sign up day. 

You will pay for all 4 events up front and ERVA will disburse the entry fee to the appropriate entity based on your qualifying status. $1100 for all 4 events due by November 27, 2023.

Overview & Structure

Power League is a series of 4 tournaments hosted by the Evergreen Region for the U14 and U16 age divisions. The first tournament, held in January will be a seeding/qualification tournament, followed by three more tournaments occurring monthly from January - March. The up or down movement of a team in each tournament will determine their final finish in Power League.

 

TEAM SIGN-UP AND ACCEPTANCE INTO ERVA POWER LEAGUE

All teams will participate in the ERVA Power League Qualifier in January. Teams who do NOT finish in the top group will play in the designated alternate tournaments. ERVA has the approval of the designated tournament directors to hold spots in their tournaments for the non-qualifying teams.  

Format

In Power League Tournaments, each division will consist of 8 teams. Within each division, teams are snake seeded into 2 pools of 4 teams. Competition includes 4 team pool play followed by single elimination bracket play.

1st and 2nd seeds from each pool will playoff in a 4 team playoff after pool play. 3rd and 4th place seeds from each pool will playoff in a 4 team playoff after pool play. 

Teams finishing 1st in the 1st/2nd seed playoff will advance to the next higher division for the next power league date. Example: team finishing 1st in the silver pool 1st/2nd playoffs will move into GOLD division at next power league.  

Teams finishing last in the 3rd/4the seed playoff will drop down a division for the next power league date. Example: team finishing last in the Gold pool 3rd/4th playoffs will move down into the Silver division at next power league.

Seeding & Rankings

The first tournament in January will be a seeding tournament. The initial tournament seeding will be determined by the ERVA Seeding Committee. The Committee will use the previous season’s Regional Championship results, Power League Rankings, ERVA Rankings, and contact clubs directly regarding their teams. After the first tournament, the seeding for each Power League tournament will be based on the previous tournament’s results.

ERVA Power League will have its own P.L. ranking to determine seeding for the 3 remaining tournaments, along with determining a Power League Champion.
